Prepare a little – have more fun !

Don’t forget your sunscreen! Bring a high SPF sunscreen before heading out into tropical rays, even in wintertime.

Prepare thoroughly and bring along cold refreshments, snacks, towels, extra clothing and maybe umbrellas, blankets or beach chairs. Wearing hats and sunglasses are always  a good idea. Now, kids love beach balls, footballs, Frisbees and plastic beach toys like pails and shovels for sandcastles. Bring a toy, Something. A raft is a superb choice – your kids will have a blast and it’s a flotation device!

Safety first – FUN ALWAYS.

Parking is complimentary at Ocean Villas and there’s no cost for beach access but if  you’re driving elsewhere there’s mostly pay parking. There are lifeguards spaced throughout Deerfield Beach. Be sure to visit one before finding your picnic spot and read official postings about water and weather conditions.

At the lifeguards tower there are flags that inform you different weather conditions and marine life depending the color of the flags. Red flag warns you the water is dangerous, you should not swim ! The yellow flag tell you it is a big risk for high waves and strong currents so you better be careful ! The green flag shows the weather conditions are nice and it is low risk for currents and waves.  And at last the lilac flag is warning you for the marine life for example dangerous jellyfish.

Sunburns are not the kind of souvenirs you want to be taking home with you, so don´t forget to reapply sunscreen often – especially after sweating or swimming.
